To pretty Sandhya: True, youth are supposed to be a fun-filled period in your life. However, in the process of having fun, we tend to forget about your loved ones and the things you cherished most because you are too wrapped up in "fun".

We do not deny that teenagers often try to substitute their pain with fun and laughter but are they really happy that way? because sometimes no matter how hard we try to forget the painful things, it might not go away. therefore, by not doing anything that you'll regret and facing up to your problems in life, you can prevent the same mistake to happen again.

Erica: Great blog! I'm just curious as to how specifically the issues of family, love, hurt and friends, relate to the youths of today? Enlighten me!

As youths these days, we tend to take things for granted. Say the love of our family and friends for us. Resulting us to feel hurt when we lose them.

We came to such a conclusion about youths these days because we experienced it ourselves. When losing a friend, a pet (part of the family) and relatives, only then we start regretting, thinking "if only" we had done this and that.

Erica: Another question, how does the song specifically convey the issues?

"But I walked away
If only I knew what I know today"
See what I mean by the "if only".

The rest of the song is mostly on how sorry she was for not treasuring her father, and only to regret after losing him.

RE: ERICA'S COMMENT.
"Erica: Great blog! I'm just curious as to how specifically the issues of family, love, hurt and friends, relate to the youths of today? Enlighten me! "

The issues that we have been saying,
Family, Love, Hurt and friends
are what normally youths like us faced nowadays.

In this song,

The persona feels regretful for not paying attention to her caring and understanding Dad
after she realised her Dad isn't around anymore.

Nowadays, parents of family are often out for work, leaving their children at home.
This results in several social problems whereby children become rebelious and they start
doing some actions in which they felt could attract their parents' attention.

That's the family part. :D

For love & friends similarly, we take people that care and love for granted.

"Another question, how does the song specifically convey the issues" - Erica

Seems like it was yesterday
When I saw your face
You told me how proud you were,
But I walked away
If only I knew what I know today
Ooh, ooh

From this, we know that the persona was being approached by
most probably her friend or family member.
However, she just walked away.

"If only I knew what I know today" - shows how she reflected and
we can actually sense her regrets in this sentence.

"I would hold you in my arms
I would take the pain away
Thank you for all you've done
Forgive all your mistakes
There's nothing I wouldn't do
To hear your voice again
Sometimes I wanna call you
But I know you won't be there"

Because the persona starts to regret, she adds on with
what she will do to 'compensate' for the 'friend or family member' departure.

and she further express her sorrows by telling us how sorry she felt and how repent for her own mistakes.

"Oh, I'm sorry for blaming you
For everything I just couldn't do
And I've hurt myself by hurting you"

(thinking again)

fizzy.: other than family, being hurt, friends, family, what other context can u relate to with youths these days?
Financial & peer pressure are some of the issue in which I can related to the youths these days.

"Colin: nice song but i gotta agree with sahd : ( i wouldnt say majority of the youths are helpless as the choice of song suggests! : ))"

Hello Sandhya and Colin...
I guess our choice of song only targets to youths
that are in love.

I'm sure that most youths are in love.

you love your parents, do you?

Music review on Christina Aguilera's 'Hurt'

Seems like it was yesterday
When I saw your face
You told me how proud you were,
But I walked away
If only I knew what I know today
Ooh, ooh

I would hold you in my arms
I would take the pain away
Thank you for all you've done
Forgive all your mistakes
There's nothing I wouldn't do
To hear your voice again
Sometimes I wanna call you
But I know you won't be there

Oh, I'm sorry for blaming you
For everything I just couldn't do
And I've hurt myself by hurting you

Some days I feel broke inside
But I won't admit
Sometimes I just wanna hide
'Cause it's you I miss
And it's so hard to say goodbye
When it comes to this, ooh

Would you tell me I was wrong?
Would you help me understand?
Are you looking down upon me?
Are you proud of who I am?

There's nothing I wouldn't do
To have just one more chance
To look into your eyes
And see you looking back

Oh, I'm sorry for blaming you
For everything I just couldn't do
And I've hurt myself, oh

If I had just one more day
I would tell you how much that I've missed you
Since you've been away
Ooh, it's dangerous
It's so out of line
To try and turn back time

I'm sorry for blaming you
For everything I just couldn't do
And I've hurt myself..
By hurting you

The MTV in 'Hurt' shows the daughter feeling regretful about her absence of her father.
This relates to our generation as we tend to take things for granted like,

1. Family
2. Friends
3. Nature

for granted.

Sometimes we take friends for granted and don't cherish them.
And most often than not, we fight over the minor things that can really
affect our relationship.

This song actually reminds us that, we should not take them for granted
and don't regret when they're gone.

Nevertheless, here are the gist of this review:

Album Song: Hurt.
Year of Release: 2006
Singer: Christina Aguilera.
Genre: Soft rock.

Review on the song:
Above all, our review is trying to convey the themes that speaks for the youth of our generation.Christina Aguilera's Hurt is successful in portraying the emotions that we mentioned earlier.
